Share the Magic Matching Grant:

Read with Malcolm is a youth literacy initiative founded in 2015 by former University of Georgia wide-receiver and current New England Patriots rookie,  Malcolm Mitchell.  The mission of Read with Malcolm is to transform the lives of young students through literacy. The organization’s goals are to introduce book ownership to students in households where reading is not a priority and to improve literacy in schools with below grade-level reading skills.

In 2016, Read with Malcolm increased its impact by launching Share the Magic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, to promote the long-term benefits of reading and book ownership among students in Title I schools and underserved communities.  For Read with Malcolm programs that involve the purchase of books, Educators or Community Activist can apply for a Share the Magic Foundation Matching Grant.  If a grant is awarded, Share the Magic Foundation will match those funds provided by the school and/or their community partners to Title 1 schools with 90% of the students receiving Free/Reduced Meal Assistance.

Malcolm’s book, “The Magician’s Hat,” which challenges young readers to think about what they want to be when they grow up, has been distributed to more than  32,000 students in over 120 elementary schools, children’s hospitals and community service organizations. 690 copies of The Magician’s hat have been distributed to Teachers at Education Conferences, and copies of The Magician’s Hat have been donated to approximately 52 different charitable organizations and libraries across the country. Malcolm has personally visited 34 elementary schools conducting RWM programs.

Help us make a difference in the life of a child by simply “sharing the magic” of reading.
